    Vad göra med orkerna?

I wrote a snarkier response but I opted to delete it to not be a dick. All of that stuff doesn't matter if it doesn't make it into the kinds of games people run. Take a look at classic D&D modules, then compare them to adventures for Runequest from the same time (and both predating 40K if thats...

    Vad göra med orkerna?

warhammer 40k dedicated a lot of page count to ork society Though. “Waaargh the orks” was over a hundred pages of background info about how ork society worked including things like settlements, economics (teef!) and music (rokk!) the reason warhammer orks are so beloved and you can name their...

    Vad göra med orkerna?

Morale rules help but it really relies on the GM. When running settings like Harn or Glorantha, you have to go first: Show enemies surrendering or offering to negotiate. Once the players accept a surrender STICK TO IT. The moment you have an enemy immediately backstab them after surrendering...

Är det bara illustratörer som kräver betalt - varför?

I think, at least in the big American publishers, there has also been a trend towards a lot of books being sold mainly to read and post about online with less worry about whether anyone actually plays it.

Är det bara illustratörer som kräver betalt - varför?

As far as artwork, one illustrator I worked with in the past gave different rates depending on whether he could resell the artwork himself later or if I needed exclusive rights. The artwork Modiphius purchases which was used in my games with them was owned exclusively by them and I assume that...

Hur många på WRNU är egentligen rollspelsskapare? (version 2.0)

Dabbled in RPG stuff, but mostly miniatures games. Self-published and if you count Five Leagues as an RPG, through a publisher as well.

Varför köps så mycket rollspel som inte spelas?

We definitely got RPG books from the library. Both the couple of Danish games that existed at the time and the local library where I grew up had huge stacks of AD&D books, Dragon magazine etc. I even got the Warhammer 40.000 Rogue Trader book on intralibrary loan once.

Varför köps så mycket rollspel som inte spelas?

All consumer media tends to work like this. I read a few reports the other week that many books published, of any kind, sell only a few dozen copies. Most film doesnt get watched, something like three quarters of games sold on Steam never get played etc. If you look on drivethruRPG the vast...

Har du som SL fuskat? Hur och varför och hur funkade det?

Things I do not do: Adjust dice rolls. All dice are in the open so the players can see what I rolled. Adjust stats. If I wrote down the orc has a particular skill, weapon or spell, that stays. Deus Ex Machina rescues. If there isn't a logical reason for someone to show up to help them and I...

Vad gör det första Mutant så bra?

If I may add, I think the Mutant approach to having (roughly) double the hit points of DoD but also increasing weapon damage slightly opens up the space a lot more without feeling like D&D

    Book list for Mutant UA?

Is there an easy list of exactly which Mutant books are for UA ? If not, could someone do a quick list. Mange tak :)

    Categorizing BRP games

Im certainly open to another term for games like Kult and Mutant Chronicles that are clearly rooted in BRP but which have deviated a fair amount. They could be post BRP as well, of course. I mentally associate that with some of the Swedish "revisit" wave that seems to have kicked off circa...

    Categorizing BRP games

You are totally correct, they are sub classifications and some are mechanical, some are conceptual. The Mongoose BRP group is united by mechanical similarities (they all grew out of the MRQ SRD) while the Post BRP grouping is games that have little in common except their points of origin, that...

    Categorizing BRP games

WFRP is a case where the inspirations (GW used to publish Runequest) are clear but I wonder if the relationship is too distant to still be considered part of the family. I know some people do consider it related though. IF it fits, I'd say an early case of post BRP.

    Categorizing BRP games

RiG could fit as either classic or modern, probably a toss up. Im inclined to say classic since it adds elements rather than change core concepts. Heroquest etc. is post BRP and pretty far removed at that, I feel. Maybe even not related at all (other than conceptually).

    Categorizing BRP games

There is a LOT of BRP and BRP-derived material out there, much of it from the Svenska scene. With some friends of mine, I have been trying to devise a few subcategories to make sense of it all. Let me know what you think. (of course, these types of discussions are always a bit silly). Classic...

How would you handle HT style "traits" in a BRP T20 game?

Terminology: Hjältarnas Tid and derivatives have personality traits which can be used to flip a D100 roll, increasing (but not guaranteeing) the chance of success. In a BRP20 game (BRP using a D20 ala Pendragon, EDD etc.) how would you implement a similar mechanic? Reroll? +/- factor? (4? 5?)...

    Hastighet i strid med eldhandvapen

Do note it is not just a factor of automatic fire (though that obviously has a big impact). In the Napoleonic era, it was sometimes stated that it took a man's weight in lead to kill him. Christopher Ward's book on the American Revolution notes that in the march back from Concorde despite...

    Hastighet i strid med eldhandvapen

Thats in the original medieval versions as well. It happens multiple times with the combatants taking a break to talk and catch their breath before either resolving their disagreement and going back to hacking away at each other later :)
