Författararvode

MODERERING

Glad sommar!

To the original question, 7 pages back :) :

Over the years with NWG, I have:

Done some things that were compilations of different peoples work, including my own. In some of those cases I basically split up the text and awarded each person a percentage of the final sales price. If your work was worth about 15% of the book, then you got 15%.

Done some books where I had created the original game and another person then created an updated version (Usurper 2, Laserstorm 2). This was a 50/50 split.

Offered a person a fixed fee for a fixed thing. Ive also been paid in this way. When I did the solo bit for the Mutant minis game, they wanted solo mechanics that didnt exceed x pages and I gave them a figure that'd cost me and they agreed. That was 100% mechanics.

I've done a little freelance editing for people, I don't remember what I charged them, but it was half way between friendship prices and "proper editor" prices for little scenario zines.

The stuff I create for Modiphius is just paid by the word. They know my style and I have a pretty good eye for how many words things take. When they offer a new project, I outline what contents itll include and that serves as a basis. They know this is going to be maybe 5% fluff text and the rest game stuff, sometimes a bit more fluff depending.

If I need art, its always just been whatever the agreement was. Im not a big haggler, either the artists demand is what I can afford for the style or it isn't and Ill find someone else. Though for wargaming, Ive also relied a lot on miniatures photography.
