Your leader Rapacus is dead. One of you killed him. All of you wanted him dead.
You are wizards in a magical convent. You live together for protection against the enemies shared by all enemies. Magical beasts, demons. Other wizards who is out to steal your research.
It’s not about who killed Rapacus. It’s who gets the blame.
Get even with that smelly old bastard living in the room next door who let their pet snake eat your magic mice. Take over their office so you get unlimited access to the shared library. Lay your hands of the forbidden tome Key of Solomon so you can bind yourself a demon. Grab that Talisman of the Serpent so you can control the monster that lurks under the surface.
You begin the story arguing who should be your new leader. Soon events spiral out of control as hidden agendas and long suppressed hatred surface. Who is left standing when the purple smoke clears?
Death of Rapacus is a GM-less storytelling game where you take the roles of wizards bickering, scheming and duelling to become the new leader of the convent. As instructed by a story booklet, you take turns setting scenes where you narrate and play out the events following the discovery of the brutal murder of Rapacus.
The player narrating is free to describe how their wizard cunningly advances their agenda up until the point where another player shouts “Over my dead body!” at which point a duel begins. All players at the table chose sides by giving dice to one of the duellists. Roll the dice to resolve the duel until one player yields. Then continue the story.
At the end of the game, you and your peers will have battled noisy neighbours, woken sleeping horrors, confronted greater demons and have laid waste to the entire countryside. Will you be the last wizard standing and bring home an exclusive trophy?
