A player of mine asked me during the last session if you can accumulate different magical bonuses that increase healing rate, or the bonuses are not cumulative?

Actually, I would like to extend his question to any bonus, for example to skills. Do two different +1d6 bonus to a skill combine into a +2d6 (for example from two different spells or a spell and a magic item)?

So far, with skills, I am allowing the bonus to accumulate up to a maximum of +3d6, this does not include the bonuses that come from spending Focus, I am only talking here bonuses from magic, from items etc.

Thx!

As long as they're from different magical roots, we allow them in our group.

This is addressed in the section "Övriga regler" in the chapter covering Mystikregler in E5. The relevant section is "Stapla effekter", which states that prayers and spells that affect the same ability (ie Livskraft or Svärd) are not cumulative, you use whichever effect is more powerful.

To clarify, this would reasonably apply in the case of a spell + magic item as well, as the magic item is lowkey just a permanent variation of the spell+enchant item.

There is an argument that could be made for stacking bonuses when you combine supernatural (spell/miracle) and mundane items (high quality gear) however – as these have quite different sources and cannot be whipped up on the spot by a few mages casting the same spell multiple times on the same target.

Multiple items can have stacking bonuses, as per the example on page 51(?). However, it's important to note that in the example the GM determines that two separate items both give a +2 (so a +1D6 in total), the items themselves may not have that specific "ability". Reasonably, you could therefore cap bonuses from high-quality items in the same way you do for spells (only use the strongest bonus) – but we've largely left this down to the GM's discretion as the situation where you have multiple items that all target the same ability and they can all be used simultaneously represent a fairly niche situation
