Love and asteroids
Cretaceous–Paleogene Extinction Event Man: A superhuman force of nature, he possesses incredible strength, invulnerability, and the ability to move at incomprehensible speeds, both in the atmosphere and deep space. Every six months, he flies out into the cosmos to redirect an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. This asteroid is timed to obliterate all life in exactly seven months unless he intervenes again.
Using this apocalyptic leverage, he extorts millions of dollars annually from world governments—not an exorbitant sum, but enough to fund his luxurious lifestyle. Despite his immense power, his motives are purely selfish, turning the fate of the planet into his personal bargaining chip.
The Problem
Yesterday, an attempt was made on the life of Cretaceous–Paleogene Extinction Event Man (henceforth referred to as CPEE Man). While CPEE Man is absurdly powerful, he has one glaring and easily exploitable weakness: if he comes into contact with laundry detergent, all of his superhuman abilities are nullified, leaving him as vulnerable as any ordinary human to bullets, blades, or blunt force trauma.
Though his superhuman reflexes, speed, and senses make him incredibly difficult to catch off guard, it isn’t impossible to deceive or ambush him. This weakness is a tightly guarded secret, known only to CPEE Man himself and a few of the world's most powerful intelligence agencies.
The assassination attempt was carried out by a woman posing as one of the many sex workers CPEE Man frequently associates with. She tricked him into snorting cocaine laced with laundry detergent off her body, rendering him powerless, and then attempted to strangle him with a garrote wire. However, before she could succeed, CIA agent Lindsey Lane, who had been covertly monitoring CPEE Man, intervened and fatally shot the assassin.
With the assassin dead, no immediate leads exist, but the CIA suspects she was not acting alone. They anticipate further attempts on CPEE Man’s life. Infuriatingly, CPEE Man seems entirely unconcerned by these threats and insists on continuing his hedonistic partying across the globe.
As a result, the CIA has enlisted (whether through payment, blackmail, or leveraging favors) the player characters to join Agent Lane in protecting CPEE Man from further assassination attempts.
What’s Really Going On?
CPEE Man himself is behind the assassination attempts. He has hired the assassins and provided them with his "secret weakness." Why? Because he is hopelessly, unrequitedly in love with Lindsey Lane.
Unfortunately for him, Lindsey despises him. She sees CPEE Man as a waste of extraordinary powers and a disgraceful human being. She resents his womanizing, his rampant drug use, and his extortion of the world by leveraging his strength for personal gain rather than the greater good. But most of all, she loathes the fact that she has been assigned to monitor him, a dull and frustrating role she considered a career dead-end—until the assassination attempt suddenly turned the assignment into something significant.
By orchestrating these attempts on his own life, CPEE Man hopes to achieve two goals:
Scenario Structure
The scenario will involve a series of increasingly dangerous and creative assassination attempts by highly skilled or superpowered killers. These attacks will continue until one of three outcomes occurs:
CPEE Man’s insistence on continuing his reckless party tour will complicate efforts to protect him, as his lifestyle puts him in constant peril. While the assassin attacks may seem like the primary threat, the real solution lies in unraveling the truth about CPEE Man’s motives and mediating between him and Lindsey. The players must act as matchmakers or force the two to confront their feelings.
Ultimately, the over-the-top assassin attacks are a distraction from the core challenge: navigating CPEE Man’s manipulative schemes and Lindsey’s deep-seated disdain to reach a resolution.
Send in the assassins!
1. The Lethal Disco Inferno
At a high-end nightclub on his party tour, the assassins infiltrate as performers, the band DeathCape, setting up an elaborate laser and smoke show. However, the smoke is infused with ultra-fine particles of powdered laundry detergent. Once the smoke engulfs the dance floor, CPEE Man is "weakened."
The assassins/musicians then strike during the chaos, attempting to impale him with disguised weapons, like a sharp-tipped mic stand or poisoned stilettos. The players must fight their way through a club full of confused and panicking partygoers while keeping CPEE Man alive.
2. The Champagne Sabotage
The shape-shifting assassin Flesh Smith, disguised as a world-famous bartender, prepares a signature drink for CPEE Man at a luxurious gala. The drink is spiked with laundry detergent, causing him to lose his powers temporarily.
Once CPEE Man collapses, a team of assassins moves in, masquerading as paparazzi with "cameras" that fire tranquilizer darts or explosives. The players must figure out the trap before the drink is served—or fight to save CPEE Man from his attackers mid-gala, where every move is caught on camera by real journalists.
3. The Pool Party Ambush
At a private villa pool party, assassins posing as lifeguards and swimsuit models spread a thin layer of laundry detergent over the water’s surface. When CPEE Man dives in, his powers are “neutralized.”
A team of water breathing Atlantean assassins then attack with underwater weapons, attempting to drown him. The players need to fight off the killers while dealing with panicked party guests, slippery terrain, and the fact that CPEE Man insists on staying in the water for the thrill of the danger.
4. The Fashion Show Meltdown
CPEE Man is invited to a high-profile fashion show in Paris, where the assassins have sabotaged one of the runway displays. Mid-show, an explosive hidden in a fake speaker launches powdered detergent across the venue, “weakening” CPEE Man.
The assassins then stage a coordinated assault, disguised as models with weapons hidden in their elaborate costumes. The players must fend off the assassins in the chaos of flashing lights, blaring music, and stampeding attendees. Bonus challenge: CPEE Man insists on finishing the show because he doesn’t want to offend the designers.
5. The Ski Resort Blitz
At an exclusive ski resort, an assassin disguised as a snowboarding instructor rigs the slopes with mines containing concentrated detergent. When CPEE Man and the players hit the slopes, the mines detonate, releasing clouds of detergent and “disabling” his powers.
The super sniper Kill-Shot, positioned hight up on the mountain, opens fire, while assassins on snowmobiles chase them down. The players must protect CPEE Man while navigating the treacherous terrain and taking out the sniper. Adding to the chaos, CPEE Man insists on finishing his run down the slope despite the attempts on his life.

- Boost her career by giving her the opportunity to thwart high-profile assassination plots.

The scenario will involve a series of increasingly dangerous and creative assassination attempts by highly skilled or superpowered killers. These attacks will continue until one of three outcomes occurs:
- CPEE Man wins over Lindsey Lane. He either manipulates her into dating him or genuinely improves enough as a person for her to develop feelings for him.
- The players uncover the deception. If they discover the truth, CPEE Man will threaten to kill them unless they keep his secret and assist him in wooing Lindsey.
- The deception is exposed. The truth about CPEE Man’s fake weakness and self-engineered danger comes to light.
CPEE Man’s insistence on continuing his reckless party tour will complicate efforts to protect him, as his lifestyle puts him in constant peril.
