Ive been meaning to run a small "wargames" scenario for a while, so wanted to see if there was interest.
Basically it will run more or less as an RPG sequence: You give orders and you hear back what comes out of it. I roll a few dice behind the scenes. It is players vs GM controlled forces, NOT PVP.
It relies on fog of war as you only have the information that your troops can provide.

As a player, you don't really need to be an expert in military stuff, having seen a few war movies will get you most of the way there. You will NOT have to learn any rules.
The plan is to do a unit of the British army in Norway, since its a very low level campaign and I have access to information about locations and encounters.
The Norwegian campaign also lends itself to a pretty dramatic affair with lots of desperate struggles.

Ideally it would have 2-4 players. Post frequently probably weekly if thats okay with everyone, faster if schedules permit. The flow will be that you guys get your reports, then everyone issues out their new orders. With 3 players, everyone has their own platoon (or so).

Language preferably in English (for king and country!), but I can accommodate.

The roles will be 3 platoon commanders (40 men) and 1 company commander. If we have 3 players, one of these will be empty of course.

Any takers for being in charge? The way we will do command hierarchy is that you guys can discuss things out but the commander has the final say/tie breaker. If you prefer an NPC commander who just kinda happen to go along with what you guys want to do, we can do that to. In that case we are probably good to go.

Jag kan anteckna mig som reserv. Jag behöver inte spela det här - jag kan spela så mycket Kriegspiel jag vill hos IKS/NordKS - men jag är tillgänglig för att fylla ut om folk saknas för att få ihop det.

Well, why don't you hop on so we have all 4?

Probably a couple moves a week if we can manage it. I dont want to get people stressed out.

The flow will be GM info, then each of you provide your orders and actions, then next GM info.
Im not sure how long it will run, we will start off fairly small.

Om någon är nyfiken på hur ett napoleonskt Kriegspiel kan se ut, skrev jag en rapport här:

Love it, thanks! We will definitely be a bit smaller scale than that :)

Okay, so if we have @Mogger @Bifur @RasmusL @Vimes and @JohanL thats 5. We can work with that. Thats full up though.

Roles are as follows:
3 of you will be platoon commanders, rank of Lieutenant (remember its "Leftenant" in the Kings English).
1 will be the company commander, rank of Major.
1 will be the company second in command, rank of Captain.

What I need from each of you is to pick your role (first come first serve, if anyone ends up not being able to play, whatever roles dont get picked are NPCs) and create a brief character: Name, where you grew up (just pick on a map if you dont have a preference), and like 3 lines about your characters personality. Your characters all enlisted during peace time and are relatively inexperienced.

The unit is a regular English one but you are welcome to make a character that is Welsh, Northern Irish or Scottish if you like.

What is a platoon?
A platoon consists of 3 sections (yanks would call them squads) with 8 men each, plus a few men to act as a command element.
3 platoons make up the company.

I'll detail some of the available gear and unit details tomorrow.

What squad types are we (sounds like regular rifles)? What support weapons do we have? Level of eliteness? Any vehicles? Artillery support access?

I imagine Bren Guns as support weapons, maybe light mortar, either AT rifles or PEATs?

British "poor bloody infantry".
Specific unit details (from the actual campaign) and gear will come in a proper briefing tomorrow :)

I just wanted to get the characters in place first.

Help for military newbies (and it's going to be very close to what we have):

And remember: officers don't duck! :)
