The implication a few places in the rules seems to be that you do adjust skills. Ill admit, for Expert when it came up, we didnt change skills but we did change the various derived stats like KP.
I was looking through old issues of a Swedish computer magazine and noticed advertisements for a shop that sold MSX games.
Was there a Swedish MSX computer? Did you have one or know anyone who did? Tell me tell me!
I dont know about Nyskapande specifically but I think what stands out to me about the early Swedish games is a heavier emphasis on "believable fantasy" which would eventually grow into the culture game.
This sort of thing was not unknown in English with games like Chivalry&Sorcery or Harnmaster...
Dortmund plays St Pauli.
Honestly, Pauli kind of deserved to win this one. They went for an odd tactic of sort of playing a sticky defensive blob and relinquished possession a lot, but Dortmund tends to falter when the opposing team doesn't do as expected.
A lot of aimless passing and a lot of...
I think they can be fun but sometimes I do kind of prefer not having them. Sometimes it feels like theres a social expectation to allowing stupid things to happen "because I rolled a 20".
Not sure if its available over there, but I recently read this
https://www.saxo.com/dk/brigaden-den-danske-brigade-i-sverige-1943-1945_knud-jv-jespersen_haeftet_9788726099508
About the Danish brigade trained in Sweden, which could be the basis for all kinds of fun adventures. You have the...
Since this is as good a place as any, did Swedish libraries have RPG books?
The library I grew up near by had a huge collection of Dragon magazine, piles of AD&D books and most of the Danish roleplaying games available for loan. I also managed to get the Warhammer 40.000 Rogue Trader rulebook...
Publication wise there has been a handful of games "in the old days". The years may be one or two off, they are just going off of whats available online or the copyright notice in the book for the ones I have access to.
"På eventyr i vildmarken" (86) was a little booklet that was available...
This article discusses the explosion of Call of Cthulhu in Japan in particular
https://www.polygon.com/tabletop-games/23584476/coc-call-of-cthulhu-chaosium-popularity-korea-japan-translation with some numbers on overall sales.
In Denmark, the books were sold in book stores and judging from RPG magazines it was reasonably popular, though it disappeared from the market fairly quickly.
The version we got was the 1987 box + a modified version of Expert and a handful of adventure books.
I often feel these discussions spend a lot of energy solving something that isn't a problem at most gaming tables.
But I also think it is fine to just roll sometimes.
If a player wants to try to forage some herbs while the party is travelling, they are not always looking for that die roll to...
I have cleaned out twice. First time was probably 15 books or so, second time was about double that.
What I kept was games that:
A: I knew I was going to get a chance to play AND wanted to play again (or at all).
B: A few collectors items that I didn't mind not having sitting around because I...
I'll be the dissent and say I am okay if the interior art pursues a new style or retreads the style from the Swedish game.
My understanding is Holmgard is also releasing an RPG and I suspect that will use the Chalk art.
