Why is this house in Sweden so cheap?

Cheers, just in case there are specific forum rules, I am NOT looking for anyone to help me find a house :)
BUT I am looking for input on something.

As a few may remember I am looking at moving to Sweden in the future (Danish citizen, I know how that all works) so I have been looking at properties around the country.
https://homestra.com/property/exclu...cturesque-oleby-torsby-self-sufficient-oasis/

So that stood out but its just an example, I've seen a lot of properties that were in similar price ranges though not always as nice looking.
This seems very cheap to me:

Is there some obvious flaw I am missing?

Is the price unusually low for a nice house and the owner is probably just eager to sell?

Is Torsby full of cannibals?

Do people just really not want to live rural / small town and thats why properties are going this cheap?

Or is this not that cheap by Swedish standards? I don't mean that to be insulting so please don't take it that way, just that properties here in the US are priced based on US incomes so I am also not sure if what I am seeing IS in fact cheap.

If it was within a reasonable commute to Stockholm, Göteborg or Malmö, it would cost many times that price.

The swedish countryside is dying more and more for every day. Services such as hospitals, schools, stores and even gas stations have a hard time staying open in rural areas. So in the big cities the houses are super expensive, but in the countryside they are not. High gasoline taxes are making it even worse, it is hard to commute in to the cities to work.

Also, as soon as you leave the nearest 20 miles of a real city Sweden turns into Resident Evil 4 except with worse music.

Appreciate it mate, I figured that was just a low ask for a very nice property, but a lot of the ones you linked are what I'd definitely consider quite cheap.

Looks like Torsby itself is about 4000 people, so definitely a village. (ironically double the size of the town I live in here in Indiana)

We have ample time so I am still nailing down exactly what we want, and exactly how rural we want to live.

Swedish learning: Is a “sambo” a room mate? Or romantic partner you live with?

There was something wrong with the ad. All swedes sell via hemnet. This particular property was also sold via hemnet. As you can see - the bidding ended at 5.75 millions, which is reasonable.

There are no known cannibals in Torsby. We ate the last one back in the cold winter of 1982.

It’s mostly forestworkers and public service employees there as well as som small industries. When buying properties there will be a lot of German, Dutch and Norwegian bidders.

If you are looking for something cheap go to the northern part of Torsby kommun - Klarälvdalen.

Good luck!
